Ordinary Visa:Divided into the following categories
C Visa:Issued to international train crew, international aircraft crew, crew members of international shipping vessels, accompanying family members, and drivers engaged in international road transport.
D Visa:Issued to individuals for permanent residence.
F Visa:Issued to individuals entering for exchanges, visits, inspections, and other activities.
G Visa:Issued to individuals transiting through China.
J1 Visa:Issued to foreign resident reporters of foreign news agencies in China; J2 Visa is issued to foreign reporters entering for short-term interviews.
L Visa:Issued to individuals entering for tourism; group L visas can be issued for group tourism.
M Visa:Issued to individuals entering for commercial trade activities.
Q1 Visa:Issued to family members of Chinese citizens applying for entry and residence due to family reunification, and family members of foreigners with permanent residence in China, as well as individuals applying for entry and residence due to reasons such as foster care; Q2 Visa is issued to relatives of Chinese citizens residing in China applying for short-term family visits.
R Visa:Issued to high-level foreign talents and urgently needed specialized talents required by the country.
S1 Visa:Issued to spouses, parents, children under 18, and parents of spouses of foreigners residing in China for work, study, or other reasons, as well as individuals needing to stay in China for other personal matters; S2 Visa is issued to family members of foreigners residing in China for work, study, or other reasons applying for short-term family visits.
X1 Visa:Issued to individuals applying for long-term study in China; X2 Visa is issued to individuals applying for short-term study in China.
Z Visa:Issued to individuals applying to work in China.
Application Materials
Generally, foreigners applying for a Chinese visa need the following materials:
1. Valid passport or a document that can replace a passport
2. Fill out the visa application form and submit a recent 2-inch half-length front photo without a hat
3. Submit proof related to the reason for entry or transit, such as:
Applying for an F Visa, requires an invitation letter issued by a relevant unit or individual in China.
Applying for an L Visa, for tourism requires round-trip tickets, hotel bookings, and other itinerary arrangements; for family visits, proof of family relationship is required.
Applying for an M Visa, requires an invitation letter from a Chinese business partner and proof of economic and trade exchanges between both parties.
Applying for a Z Visa, requires work permit proof, employer invitation letter, labor contract, etc.
Applying for an X Visa, requires the school's admission notice and other proof documents issued by the education department.
